Here’s how to delete a record type in Salesforce without affecting existing data:

1. Go to Object Manager in Setup.

2. Select the Account object.

3. Click on Record Types in the left panel.

4. Click the edit.

5. First, deactivate the record type by unchecking the Active box and click Save.

6. Then, click Delete and confirm the deletion.
